No word yet on whether we can go home on the 12th or not but my money is on not. There apparently is an upcoming anniversary of killings that many blame on an old president who happens to be living in the US - therefor it is likely that there will be an increase in anti American sentiment that might make it a bad idea for us to be in the country.
That's alright with me because I'm starting to get settled here and I found a job that is meaningful and interesting. I'm working in the office that provides communications for the sec of state while she's traveling. Interesting stuff.

We made it to Washington National Airport on time last night via United (note - not American which we've had horrible luck with) and got checked into our new home for at least three weeks - the Courtland Towers - in Arlington.
The kids did a great job with the flights and got complements from everyone around them. I guess we've turned them into good travelers with all the flying and driving they have done. The apartment is very nice - large with three bedrooms. Probably bigger than our place was in Baku! We are already saying it's too bad we can't live here when/if we come back for a long term assignment - it's just too expensive if we aren't on per diem.
Now that we are in one location for the next few weeks, I'll start working on getting photos uploaded. Needless to say, we've gathered a lot over the last few weeks with Disney and time at the Oregon coast.
Monday I start a leadership training course at an annex here in Arlington. Beyond Friday I have no idea what I'll be doing but I'm sure it will be meaningful.

American Airlines canceled all the flight to Bolivia for the last week - and are still canceling flights - due to the civil unrest in the country. The US Ambassador was PNGed (kicked out) and the Embassy is now on Authorized Departure - a bureaucratic term that means employees and family members can leave on the government's dime if they want to - for thirty days initially. As a result, we have been caught in limbo here - official, "Caught Out". We are not allowed to return even if we could get a flight back, and tomorrow I have to work with people in Washington to figure out what our next move is. Personally, I'd rather be on a plane on my way to La Paz right now.
So, for the next few weeks we'll either be in Portland, DC or KC depending on if I'm required to report to DC or not.
So, R&R is turning into a bit of a headache.

I'm convinced that the reputation that Oregon has for rain is a widespread conspiricy to keep outsiders away because everytime I visit, the weather is amazing. Right now I'm sitting inside but the sun in reflecting off the water of the Pacific and making it difficult to see the screen on my computer. This morning we spent another great morning walking and playing on the beach. Anders' new favorite activity is to run from the waves over and over and over and over again. Fun but it does get old after a while.
Our week at Disney was very nice though exhausting. Robyn did a great job planning and managing us all so we didn't have to wait in lines longer than about 15 minutes the entire trip. The kids had fun but they both could have stood to have been a little older.
American has been canceling the flights to Bolivia over the last few days because of some unrest there. Oh, and the American Ambassador was expelled. We are watching things closely and hope to make it back home on schedule on Monday.

We are now only about 30 hours from leaving on a much needed R and R back to the Land-O-Plenty - the good old USA. First we'll hit Orlando and Disney for a week with Nanna and Grandad then it's off to Oregon for a week of big city shopping and catching up with Great Grandma and Great Grandpa, then another week at the beach with Great Grandma, Great Grandpa and Grandma. Should be a great trip and we even hope to do a little relaxing - not in Orlando though - that would be a waste. Robyn has been working on optimizing our Disney invasion - I mean vacation - plan. She's become a Disney World expert in the span of about three weeks. There are apparently all sorts of time and effort saving tricks that we'll be implementing - including the legendary rope drop sprint to Space Mountain. I remember doing that as a kid - and getting to ride twice without much wait.
DISBoards.com are a great resource for anyone looking to figure all this out for themselves.

Brooks is up to 22lbs 4 oz and doing well! He is shooting up in height, which is most dramatic. I am so happy that he is growing out of his 12-18 month clothing!
Little Brooks is our soccer player. He kicks everything, and then with his arms up in victory yells "Score"! (in Brooks' language). He loves balls and points to anything remotely round and proclaims excitedly "ball!". He is even speaking some Spanish. The other day he was getting his diaper changed and pointed to it saying "esta kacka".
Anders is doing very well too. He can converse in Spanish now, and even served as my very own translator when I tried to talk to the maid.
We are busy planning our trip to the US. We will stop by DisneyWorld for a week with my parents and then go on to Oregon for 2 weeks to be with Aaron's grandparents and mom.
Our trip to DisneyWorld is consuming all of our time. We are trying to plan it perfectly so we can avoid the crows and HEAT!! Watch it all be thrown off. But with planning a perfect schedule with 2 young boys is just asking for failure!!
