Stuck in the US

American Airlines canceled all the flight to Bolivia for the last week - and are still canceling flights - due to the civil unrest in the country. The US Ambassador was PNGed (kicked out) and the Embassy is now on Authorized Departure - a bureaucratic term that means employees and family members can leave on the government's dime if they want to - for thirty days initially. As a result, we have been caught in limbo here - official, "Caught Out". We are not allowed to return even if we could get a flight back, and tomorrow I have to work with people in Washington to figure out what our next move is. Personally, I'd rather be on a plane on my way to La Paz right now.

So, for the next few weeks we'll either be in Portland, DC or KC depending on if I'm required to report to DC or not.

So, R&R is turning into a bit of a headache.

I was just checking Facebook and saw the news that you guys are stranded here. Our prayers are with you all right now and also your friends back in Bolivia. Although selfishly it would be nice to see you guys in K.C.
