Quba Trip 3 of 4

This woman, and just about EVERYONE we met was extremely friendly. She made us take an armload of plums and wouldn't take any money for them. (66kb) Here's a parting proud, short little Rabbi. (57kb) On to another part of Quba. (73kb)
More local flavor. Even the kids were nice. Even the onese that riffled through Elias's car while we explored the synagogue. (66kb) A WWII memorial (53kb) More smilling faces to great us. Again, these people were all of maybe 5' tall. (53kb)
She's selling sunflower seeds. Black sunflower seeds. (41kb) This is just a perfect charagature of the people of Azerbaijan. Definitely a case where a picture is worth a thousand words. (40kb) Too bad it's out of focus. (48kb)
More rural Azerbaijan. What a place. (78kb) 2728.jpg (64kb) This is typical of the area around Baku. Actualy, this is much more vegitation that is around Baku. (45kb)
a typical bus stop along the main road. (43kb) Despite the amazingly rough road and our high speeds Robyn was able to catch some Zs (45kb) Another sheapard. That's the Capian in the background. (41kb)
Lots of powerlines create a short of visual polution (41kb) Starting the treck up to a craggy little mountain with mystical healing powers. (45kb) There's a great view of the mountain and the Casbian in the background. The water of the Casbian looks quite inviting. (39kb)
2767.jpg (41kb) Tori scared Robyn by running after a few lonely cows in this field. All it took was one bluffed charge to get her to retreat back to the car thoguh. (53kb) If you look really hard you can see a little white structure in a crag in the middle of the mountain. What's where we're going. (49kb)
