Sweden - August 2002

Getting there:

On the morning of Friday, August 2, 2002 mom Luffman took us to the airport to catch our flight to Minneapolis on Northwest Airline. Upon arrival at the Minneapolis airport we attempted to get seats for our flight on KLM - Royal Dutch Airlines to Amsterdam, but it turns out they hadn't yet officially opened the ticket counter at the gate so we let them know we needed seats and the nice Dutch woman said "I was just about to get yours, check back in a little while". So, off we went for some much-needed food, albeit overpriced airport food. When we got back to our gate we waited in the short line to pick up our boarding passes and were surprised to see a rather low number for a seat row - 13 I think. So, I thought, that will be nice, we'll be one of the first off the plane when we get there and since our flight was running late we thought that would be quite important.

When we went through security we were quite surprised by the extra special treatment our row seemed to garner. This was quickly explained as our seats where in BUSINESS CLASS! That sure did make the long flight over a lot easier. We really enjoyed the food and personal entertainment consoles with a nice selection of movies. We arrived in Amsterdam so late that we missed our connecting flight to Stockholm. Luckily we hurried to a ticket counter and were some of the first in line because in just a few minutes the lines where 30 and 40 deep! We were able to rebook on a later flight and were directed to KLM's flight lounge. At this point we thought it would be a good idea to call mom and dad Anderson to let them know we weren't going to be on the flight we were scheduled on. After a few minutes of wracking her brain Robyn was able to dredge the number up from her fabulous memory, but alas, they had already left for the airport. We could only hope that they would figure out we would be hours late and not waste a day waiting at the airport.

We were originally supposed to arrive at 9:35AM; we were exhausted when we finally got off the plane at about 6:00 PM, a full 24 hours after we first got on the plane in Kansas City. Mom and dad Anderson were there waiting for us and even still in a cheery mood, more than I can say for myself and Robyn.

Stockholm:

That first night all we did was sleep and eat some wonderful pizza from a restaurant in Robyn's old neighborhood. The next day after sleeping in we took a trip to downtown Stockholm. Robyn was extreamly excited to see her favorate old store, NAME???, still going strong and we even bought a couple of things, including a swimming suite for Aaron since he left his at home.
